Shipping is a beast. To my understanding, Amazon Prime has conditioned many online shoppers to expect free shipping. If you've shipped a package recently, you know differently. Over the past three years, commercial shipping rates have increased by over 12%. Shipping comes with a price and often, a hefty one.
Many of you know Liberated's founding mission has always been to get products in the homes of those who require them efficiently, cost-effectively and reliably. The impacts of COVID-19 have stressed freight and small parcel carriers tremendously. Many carriers reporting nearly a 400% increase in demand. It's hard to imagine how companies can adapt and pivot their shipping models to accommodate for this unprecedented increase in demand. As early as mid-April we started experiencing a dramatic increase in packages arriving after their expected delivery date. Do to the perish-ability aspect to our packages this was of great concern to all parties involved. We immediately pulled data on over 350 packages shipped between April 15 - May 12, 2020 outsourced between two carriers to investigate. Our findings showed a failure rate of upwards 25% with the United States Postal Service and a 0% failure rate with UPS. The answer was clear, our shipping options needed to change for the benefit of everyone, and the resolution needed to happen fast.
In May 2020 we implemented a silent launch of a new Free Shipping option and enhanced carrier options. We are relieved to see that early reports are showing significant improvement and are confident to make it known to all our customers.
Liberated remains committed to our mission and has implemented changes to our shipping model to help consumers get the products they need timely and as expected. By relying on carriers that can deliver results consistently, Liberated has transitioned to a Free Shipping model on all orders valued at $100 or more while providing reliable shipping options on orders under $100. We feel this decision helps everyone.
Thank you for your feedback, your business, and continued support of the Liberated brand.
